Weapon (Brass Knuckles 1d4 Bldg.), rare, (requires attunement) These brass knuckles have 6 charges. When you make an attack with this weapon you can expend a charge to disperse a cloud of dust from the punch. If the target needs to breathe, it must succeed on a DC 12 constitution saving throw or become disoriented. A creature affected in this way has disadvantage on attack rolls and ability checks. As long as it is conscious, a creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on it on a success.

Once belonging to the great pugilist Bash Stone, these brass knuckles were sneaked into the boxing match that would mark the end of his career. Up against the goliath Vito “Tiny” Dias in a fight for the Morthall Championship Belt, Bash sought to insure his victory by commissioning this devious dust-dispensing weapon. As the rounds went on, Bash could see that his opponent would overtake him at any moment and, in his last act of desperation, activated the magical property of his knuckle dusters. A puff of dust clouded the vision of Vito leaving him open for attack, an opening that Bash unashamedly took advantage of. As the goliath fell, Bash seized his victory and the belt. After investigation of the match, the tampered weapons were discovered, Bash’s title was stripped from him, and his reputation was forever tarnished.

With this incredibly cheesy pun-inspired weapon, we officially begin the month of magic! This one turned out much more challenging than I anticipated. The main issue I faced was deciding on what effect the dust should impose upon enemies, as well as balancing that effect with the damage output, and saving throw DC (difficulty class). I danced between suffocation and poisoning and eventually settled on the latter, opting to rebrand it as "disorientation." The lore behind the item however came much more naturally. I wanted the original owner to be an over-confident boxer who would rather stoop to cheating than lose fairly. It will be up to your players to either use this item for good, or to stoop to the same lows that Bash Stone had.

Thanks for stopping by, and remember to always update your character sheets!
